5 Great Czech Restaurants to try Authentic Czech Cuisine
After couple days in Prague you realize that there is a restaurant on every single corner. Even locals wonder how in a world all of them are still in business but more importantly – locals visit just a very small percentage of them. But which places are the best to try authentic Czech cuisine along with good Czech beer? Here are 5 great Czech restaurants to try authentic Czech cuisine suggestions based on our personal experience.
Potrefená Husa
Potrefená husa (could be translated as Crazy Duck) is a chain restaurant run by one of the biggest breweries in our country called Staropramen (btw. – it’s a Prague – based brewery). You can get traditional Czech food here with a modern twist. To find the one nearest to your hotel, check their locations on Google maps.
Národní pivovar
Address: Národní 8, Prague 1
Excellent newly opened microbrewery located right next to the Czech National Theatre. Besides great food they brew their own beer called Czech Lion. Our favorite is their unfiltered lager. During the summertime they open up their beer garden in the courtyard.
U Tři Růží
Address: Husova 232/10, Prague 1
Just few steps from the Old Town Square you can find a great microbrewery called U Tří Růží (At three roses). Traditional Czech food is a bit pricy for locals here (even though it’s really delicious), but they do have excellent beers. We’d say it’s a must-try for all real beer lovers.
Strahov Monastery
Address: Strahovské nádvoří 301/10, Prague
Near Prague Castle is located an old monastery, founded in the 12th century. Luckily, they still keep the tradition of brewing alive and you can get here tasty beers as well as traditional Czech cuisine. Their beer goulash is our personal favorite :)
Kotleta (top photo)
Address: U Radnice 2/10, Prague 1
Right behind the Astronomical Clock is the only restaurant on the Old Town Square, which is not overpriced. And that’s Kotleta. So if you want to get a great Czech lunch or dinner right in the city center, Kotleta is a place to go. During the summertime they grill on their beer garden so you can get ready for some amazing steaks right from the grill.
So here you go. Hopefully you’ll have a good time at one or all of these places and enjoy the amazing beers they offer. Cheers! or as we say in Czech: Na Zdraví!!!
