Budapest offers year-round entertainment in the form of different festivals, cultural events, concerts and fairs. Here we would like to provide you with an overview of the best Budapest festivals, which are art and music related, coming up in 2017.
Spring Festival (Tavaszi Fesztivál)
Between 1st and 23th April the best of classical, jazz, opera and folk music is brought together. This is the largest cultural event in Hungary. Local and international performers will entertain audiences all over the city.
National ‘Táncház’ Festival and Fair
On 22-23rd April a folklore festival takes place in the Papp László stadium. Musicians, dancers and artist bring acts to the stage from all over the Carpathian Basin.
Jazz Spring
You can enjoy as much jazz as you want if you go to the Palace of Arts during the first weekend in May.
Mayfest at the Opera House
If you are into classical music, do not miss the 2-week long opera festival at the end of May.

Inner City Festival (Belvárosi Fesztivál)
As the locals refer to it; ‘Belfeszt’ is a free music festival taking place in the inner city at three different locations. It takes place on the first weekend of June and you will see local bands playing.
Danube Carnival
Between 6th and 11th June, you can see contemporary and folk dancers along with international and local artists on different venues along the river.
Budapest Summer Festival
From 9th June till the end of August you can enjoy different performances on Margaret Island or in Városmajor. Nothing beats a concert under the stars!
The Night of the Museums (Múzeumok Éjszakája)
It is just like in the movies if you are in Budapest on 24th June. You can literally spend the whole night visiting museums. Go traveling back in history or come to learn about local culture and arts.
SZIGET Festival
The best known music festival of Hungary. It is among the biggest in the world. Starting on 9th August, it’s a week long celebration of life on Shipyard Island (Hajógyári Sziget) with a world-class lineup.
Festival of Folk Arts (Mesterségek Ünnepe)
On 20th August the Hungarians celebrate their biggest national holiday, St. Stephen’s Day. On the very same weekend, the finest local craftsmen move up to the Buda Castle for the ‘Mesterségek Ünnepe’.
Jewish Summer Festival
It is a week of Jewish culture, arts, music, dance and traditions, but the dates for 2017 are still unknown.
Budapest Design Week
Sometime during the fall, a whole week is dedicated to contemporary fashion, furniture and arts. The programs also include workshops, exhibits and different creative events.
CAFe (Contemporary Arts Festival)
From 6th October till 22nd the annual Budapest Autumn Festival takes over the city. Local and international artist perform a wide range of shows and visual art exhibitions.
