Budapest by Night – the Best Romantic Scenes
Budapest by night: The Romantic City
Here you both are in one of the most romantic cities in the world. It’s the perfect getaway for romantics, regardless of age. And Budapest by night with all the beautiful buildings illuminated, is nothing but pure romance. All year round, the city offers so many romantic venues to feel the love.
Take a look at the charming city lights from the Fisherman’s Bastion! Under the towers and arches you may find a hidden stone bench. The perfect perch for being together and taking in the scenery.
Fall in Love in The Castle District
Walk along the cobbled streets of the Castle district, especially Tóth Árpád Promenade, where elderly locals stroll hand-in-hand. This is also a really good location to watch a sunset, and in April you can see the beautiful cherry blossoms.
Then on the way down from the Castle, find your way to the top of the tunnel, close to the Chain Bridge, which is a very popular dating spot for young kids. Let your heart talk here and enjoy the view of this magnificent bridge stretching over the Danube.
The Citadel
For an unforgettable panorama, climb Gellért Hill/Citadel. Narrow, slightly steep paths and stairways will help you to find your way to the top. Make sure you stop at some points to observe how the view of the city slowly evolves. Most likely you will bump into local lovers. If you want more privacy, take your partner for a stroll in the park behind the Citadel, the fortress-like building on top, with swings, benches and some stunning scenery.
If you prefer staying close to the buzzing city life, then stay on the Pest side. Culture vulture couples can sign up for a night stroll with boat cruise to learn about the illuminated wonders.
In the City Park, the Vajdahunyad Castle is lit up for the night. There is an artificial lake around the castle, used as a small boating lake in summer and an ice-skating rink in winter. Both can be very romantic after sunset!
By the River
Take a leisurely stroll along the Danube Promenade and enjoy the views, loaded with UNESCO sights. Then pop into one of the restaurants to listen to live music.
Wanna little more privacy? So walk down to the river embankment, sit on the stairs by one of the illuminated bridges and perhaps steal a kiss from your partner. Or perhaps not #metoo!
Finally you can even go to Margaret Island for a peaceful hideaway, enjoy the reflections of the illuminated city from the island or point out some of the star constellations to your loved one.
And the best part of all this: in Budapest you don’t have to work on getting romantic, because it’s the city providing the romantic atmosphere!
