Great Student Hangouts in Krakow
Introduction
Krakow is the second biggest city in Poland. It’s also the second biggest when it comes to the number of students living and studying there. Students make up around 20% of all the people who live in Krakow. This is the main reason for the city being so energetic and full of friendly English speakers. Night life rocks all year round and there are dozens of great student hangouts where you can meet literally everybody, not only students of the various Krakow universities. By the way, did you know that there are 12 state universities and academies in the city of Krakow!
Student Town
Probably the most famous student place in Krakow is the so called “student town” of the Academy of Science and Technology (AGH). It’s a small neighborhood inhabited only by the students of AGH. They have their own regulations, for example, the students can organize a barbecue or a picnic in the premises, they can also consume alcoholic drinks, which is forbidden on Polish streets generally. The place has its own groove and feeling and you’re going to make new friends there for sure!
Down by the River
There are so many nice places to go in Krakow. But a couple of them are both very popular and have an interesting background. One of them is the Forum Club & Cafe, which is by the Vistula River. Situated on the other side of the Church on the Rock it enjoys a great view of the Wawel Castle and the river. They also have a beach where you can play volleyball. Although you can’t swim in the river, you can sunbathe and chill out with a cold drink there. Forum was once a fancy hotel built in the communist times and then closed.
Another great place worth checking out is the bar & restaurant & fun complex at Dolnych Mlynow Street which is close to the main square of Krakow. It’s a brand new place where everyone can find something interesting. It’s in a former tobacco factory and now serves as an amusement center for both students and guests. They also have the summer cinema there every year. Check it out and make new acquaintances in our beautiful city!
