Prague is a city built on great music and music venues and it’s long and tumultuous history has lead to a music heritage that draws on lots of different inspirations. Today, being the thoroughly modern city that it is, Prague has something to offer everyone, whether you want to hear classic Czech music, something more modern or even international acts bringing their work to the city for adoring local audiences.
Good venues in Prague
Prague has some great venues. Top of most people’s list is MeetFactory, a great space which, as well as hosting concerts, also has art exhibitions. Lucerna is good for catching local Czech bands during the week, while Forum Karlín tends to host the bigger name acts that come to town. Also worth a visit, even just to look at the outside of is the garish Palác Akropolis.
Jazz in Prague
Like many European cities, Prague has a rich jazz heritage and some great clubs dotted all over the city. Some of the greats include places like The Loop, Reduta and Blues Sklep. And, if you happen to find yourself in the city during March and April, be sure to check out the AghaRTA Jazz Festival, to catch a wide variety of local and international artists taking to stages all over the city.

Busking in Prague
You don’t even have to go inside to find good music in Prague. As a matter of fact, you’ll see some of the best performances on the streets. These come from the myriad of entertainers that ply their trade for tourist coins. You’ll find most of the best sounds emanating from around the Old Town Square and the famous bridges that span the Vltava.
Another good place to catch live music outside is Bajkazyl. It’s a beer garden down by the river that comes alive long into the evening during the summer months.
